THE YEAR IT ALL STARTED
In 2010, when the term third-wave coffee in Malta was still new, two brothers had been sharing a kitchen brim with tea and coffee gadgets, sourcing beans and leaf teas from small, wonderful plantations, and experimenting with different brewing methods. A few years later, after being invited to a local convention to share knowledge, BREW was born. Serving hand-brewed specialty coffees and teas, and making the experience more enjoyable, we were soon nicknamed the alchemists of coffee, “like something out of Dexter’s lab”.
OUR FIRST CORNER SHOP OPENS IN VALLETTA
In 2014, we opened our first retail corner within the CHOCOLATE DISTRICT (sister-company) premises in Valletta. Today, it still houses most of the assortment for retail as well as serving our coffees and teas to its customers. We became the official ambassadors of HARIO in Malta, a Japanese company producing outstanding coffee equipment and the number one choice among professional, competing baristas.
SUBCRIPTION COFFEE INTRODUCED IN MALTA
During the same year, we launched an online shop and ran a Subscription Coffee plan, a first in Malta! Those on the plan would receive coffees reserved exclusively to members and delivered every month. We are proud to have clients who are still journeying with us from day one.
PRESS’ ON IT
Word of our superior teas and coffees continued to spread, and soon, we were doing guest appearances on TV and getting featured in the press. We’ve also been writing regular articles in food magazines…
BREW OPENS ITS HUB IN MOSTA
In 2017, to cater for the demands of wholesale clients, BREW opened a hub in Mosta. The strategic position was chosen to centralise operations and to facilitate distribution to wholesale and B2B clients wanting to work with our leaf teas and coffee beans.
